Coil Transfer Cars and Coil Cars

Some packaging lines are located away from the slitting line.  Slit mults may be transferred to the packaging line by automated coil transfer cars, Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV), or an overhead crane with a C-hook.  Descriptions of some types of coil transfer cars are below.

Entry End Coil Car

  • Supports the coil and transfers it to the uncoiler.
  • Fabricated with robust welded steel frames.
  • Uses a hydraulic hold-down for narrow coils.
  • Weight capacities up to 100,000 pounds.
  • Has four-wheel drive with flanged and hardened wheels.
  • Includes self-contained on-board hydraulics.
  • Controlled by pendant or remote control options.
  • Power reel accessible for maintenance.


Exit End Coil Car

  • Supports and transfers slit coils to a turnstile.
  • Fabricated with robust welded steel frames.
  • Adjustable coil support arms for slit mults.
  • Weight capacities up to 100,000 pounds.
  • Has four-wheel drive with flanged and hardened wheels.
  • Includes self-contained on-board hydraulics.
  • Controlled by optional pendant or remote control.
  • Outer housing easily removed for maintenance.

Propane Powered Transfer car

We can design units to suit any weight capacity required. The propane powered transfer car above has a capacity of 50 tons and features:

  • Urethane covered wheels rated to run on a level industrial concrete floor
  • Automatic steering following a wire on the floor
  • Operation by attached pendant, remote radio or full automation
  • Propane power with onboard PLC and equipment for remote starting and movement
    • Anti-collision sensors to stop the unit
    • Auto shut-down after transfer
  • Economic installation and relocation
